Shift keys stop working in all apps/Windows. Unfortunately, I can't give any more information, since it's inconsistent/intermittent, other than to say I have pretty fresh and up-to-date installs of Windows and Visual Studio (I reinstalled Windows a couple of months back), and I tend to keep my PC as clean/vanilla as possible (ie. But again, I've been debugging like this for years - nothing's changed there - and it only started happening recently. It's possible this is indirectly triggering it somehow as it often seems to happen when I'm looking at code while the debugger has stopped at a breakpoint. The only thing I can think of that might be related in some way, is that I frequently debug my app in Visual Studio, and there are times when I'm stepping through code in the debugger for a while. I'm not doing anything I haven't been doing on a daily basis for decades as part of my software development job. As soon as I turned FancyZones off in Powertoys settings, the Shift key started working normally everywhere else again. When I let go of the Shift key they disappeared. I was pressing the Shift key when my mouse cursor was in my secondary, left hand monitor, and I saw three 'zones' appear in the background (1, 2 and 3). The last time it happened, I turned off FancyZones because I was seeing it appear on my secondary monitor when I pressed Shift (main is 4K 150% on right, secondary is 1080p 100% on left). I've tried switching keyboards, disconnecting and reconnecting my USB keyboard, etc, but nothing brings Shift key functionality back unless I reboot or get lucky after waiting a while. It affects all applications and even Windows itself. I'm finding that, for no apparent reason, my Shift keys stop working intermittently, so I can't type anything that involves pressing the Shift key! This has been happening for a while now (a couple of weeks maybe?), maybe 3 or 4 times a day, and I've been having to reboot to fix it, or it sometimes starts working again if I just wait a while (haven't noticed a consistent time frame). I'm using latest Visual Studio 2022 on latest Windows 11 to develop and debug an unrelated C++ application.
